3 Volvo Original cars was in top in "Snapphaneklassen" one special classe for all foreign drivers in swedish rally Snapphanerallyt in Hässleholm Aug 14. Fastest of all was Robert Nordin (above). Robert is from Åland/Finland. Robert scored 15 bonus points in Volvo Original Nordic West Euro Cup 2010 and now is 2.nd driver overall after leading Siggi Mayr, Germany. Photo: Carleric Johansson A lot of foreign drivers started in Snapphanerallyt in Hässleholm/ Sweden in August. 10 of the drivers where Volvo Original drivers from Finland, Denmark, France and of cause Germany. Overall 16 foreign teams was on the starting list. Total number of cars in the rally this year was 166 (and 66 of the cars where Volvo Original cars as the rally was one leg in the Swedish Volvo Original Rally Cup 2010). The rally also was one of 3 swedish Bonus rallies in the Volvo Original Nordic West Euro Cup 2010 and of cause Cup leder "Siggi" Mayr was on the entry list. Siggi has started in all 3 swedish Bonus rallies this year and had the chanse to score 15 more bonus points. But Siggi went off and had to retire for the first time in 6 years (!) so he only get 5 points for startin in the rally-But - he still leads the Cup before next leg, Ostsee Rally in Oldenburg, in the north of Germany Sept 10-11. - I went off and it took 30 minutes to get the car on road again. Then we went on to service and repared the car. But - it took to long time so we was not allowed to start again, Siggi explains. Fastest among the foreign drivers was Robert Nordin and the two young german drivers Philipp Knoof and Arne Hoffmeister, all driving Volvo 940´s. Jochen Walther, Gemany shoud have startet but had to stay at home because of work and sent his codriver Philipp Mushlt to drive one of the german standard 940´s. Well - its probably was not so fun to call Jochen and tell what happend: they crasched the car already at stage 1 (of 5) The Volvo Original Euro Cup this year should had startet in Austria but the austrian leg was cancelled because problems with the roads. The first leg after that was the very nice german rally Pegasus Sulinger Land in Sulingen. The Sulinen Rally was the dutch legi n the cup because its a good rally near the dutch border and very popular among all dutch drivers. Next was swedish rally Dackefejden with a lot of cars and now its two more rallies to go: Ostsee Rallye in Oldenburg /Holstein Sept 10-11 sept and danish Rally Bramming Oct 8. Both this rallies is on asphalt and as usual omn asphalt in the NWEC the Volvo drivers starts on DOT-marked standard tyres, 195 15. In every national leg in the Cup its a lots of points to fight aboul. The winner gets 30 points, 2.nd gets 27, 3.rd gets 25 and 4.th 23. After that its 22,21 etc down to 16.th place who is worth 11 ponits. IIf more cars in classe every car after that gets 10 points. If not retired - than only gives 5 points. The problem with nternational rally cup is that its allways collissions betwen the national events in every country and because of that there are some Bonus-rallies in every Volvo Original country: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany and - Hungary (for he austrian drivers). In the bonus rallies only foreign drivers can get points. Its 15 points för start if reach finish line and 5 points to start but retire. The drivers can start in as many Bonus ralies they want - but they can only use points from 3 of them. Bonus rallies in the rest of the year from midle of August is: Rally Hedemarken in Norway Sept 25, a danish asphalt rally in Slagelse on theSjælland island Nov 6-7, Conrad Euregio Rally in Hengelo in The Netherlands Nov 5-7 nov - and "big super gravel rally" - Lausitz Rallye in Boxberg - in the Lausitz Area 200 kms south of Berlin Oct 15-16.
