The Volvo Original Nordic West Euro Cup waited a long time for the last rallye in 2009. But - now we have a date. Its 4-5 Sept and its a tarmac rallye in Odense, Denmark
Here is the cup datest: 1: 20-21 Mars. Tank S Rally, Emmeloord, The Netherlands. Asphalt. 2: 17-18 April. Rallye Triestingtal, Triestingtal, Austria. Gravel. 3: 1-2 May. ADAC Mobil Pegasus Rallye Sulingerland, Sulingen, Germany. Asphalt. 4: 15-16 May. SSR/Sydrallyt, Ljungby, Sweden, Gravel. 5: 1 aug. Rally Grimstad, Grimstad, Norway, Asphalt. 6: 4-5 sept, Odense (Fyn) Denmark, Asphalt Special invitation Rallye: 15-17 October. Lausitz Rallye, Boxberg/Weisswasser, Germany. Gravel. The rallies in The Netherlands and in Suligen in Germany is "dear old friends" for the VO-drivers - and soon the gravel-rally in Austria is too. The Austrian rallye will be in the Cup for 3.rd year - and this year with more austrian drivers scoring championship points than last year, where the national cup was splited in two parts because of discussions about the rules. Number 3 is a rally that returns to the Cup - its SSR/South Swedish Rally in Ljungby in the south of Sweden (near Road E4). Its a Swedish Championship rally on extremly nice (and fast) gravel roads. The Volvo drivers starts both days in Sydrallyt - that means that thay dont do the first part the first day. And in Sweden its no recce for the Volvo-drivers. In stead of practising the drivers will get pace notes from the organisation (extremly good pace notes). Normaly the pace notes are translated to english or maybe to german. Next rallye in the Cup is a norwegian newcomber: Rally Grimstad in the very south of Norway. Its possible for some of the rallye teams to go to Grimstad by boat. Grimstad is a small coast town at Road E 18 - between Kristiansand and Arendal. Ats a one day rally on asphalt stages (4 stages x 2) and one of the special stages is a round cource near the City. The ss-lengt overall is round 50 kms. After the Norwegian rally we hjave the final rallye in the Cup - its on asphalt in Denmark. The Lausits Rallye in Germany will not be in the cup this year because of the very ruff gravel roads. But its a special invitation rallye for the Volvo drivers in all countries that wants to finish the rallye season 2009 with one of the most exiting gravel rallies you can find in Europe!
(After this info was written we got the idea to make a Gravel Cup - with Austria, Sweden - and Lausitz Rallye in Germany). More info about the Gravel Cup in "6 Euro rallies 2009".)
